In my practice, I recommend SEMUA for food allergy prevention. It is a food nutritional supplement to help prevent food allergy. It contains prebiotics and proteins from all the major food sources at doses that can help prevent food allergy. More importantly, it is tasty and convenient to use.

Early Introduction of Allergenic Foods

The key for food allergy prevention is early introduction of allergenic foods. However, parents are notably worried that introduction of allergenic foods can cause a severe fatal allergic reaction on the first introduction of such foods. And because of the worry, they delay and doing so has been shown to cause harm in that the act of avoidance, can lead to food allergy!

Studies have shown that introduction of allergenic foods are safe, and reactions if any, are actually mild! The 2023 Anaphylaxis practice parameter guidelines states: In infants and toddlers, age-specific symptoms may differ from older children and adults, patient age is not correlated with reaction severity, and anaphylaxis is unlikely to be the initial reaction to an allergen on first exposure. Hopefully this will reassure parents that what they are doing is safe and protective.

Helpful Food Allergy Guidelines

I find the Australian guideline written for food allergy prevention quite helpful, and they made a easy to read website for parents to follow, you can access it here.

About SEMUA

For parents that are worried, we can introduce SEMUA in the clinic under direct observation. This is called an Oral Food Challenge. Once the child is noted to consume SEMUA without issues, it gives the parents confidence to continue to introduce one sachet daily into the complementary feeding. I always tell parents that SEMUA does not replace the replace the normal nutrition their child needs, it simply makes it more convenient and also increases the confidence of parents to continue to introduce foods to their child’s diet.

I am the medical advisor that helped Immune Vital Labs develop SEMUA. You can read more about it the supplement by clicking on SEMUA.
