Father’s Day Exploration

Father’s Day Through My Appetite!

Some dads collect watches.

Some collect golf scores.

Apparently, I collect meals.

For me, Father’s Day isn’t about one extravagant celebration.

It’s my perfect excuse to go dining!

I revisit old favorites, discover a few new gems, and spend time with the people who matter most.

I put together a short 30-second video of some of the places I enjoyed over the past few weeks.

If you’re familiar with the Klang Valley food scene, see how many you can recognize!

  • Melawati Coffee Shop (next to Tiam Fatt)
  • Folk Kofii, Melawati
  • Hai Kah Lang, TRX
  • Kanbe, Kiara 163
  • Hong Kee Bak Kut Teh, Kepong
  • Kwong Wah Cendol, PJ Section 17
  • Durian at a friend’s private orchard in Ulu Klang
  • Atelier Binchotan, Taman Desa (their new location at the Business Park)
  • Shake Shack, TRX

Reflecting on Father’s Day

Looking back at the video, I realized something.

The food is rarely the highlight.

It’s the conversations over breakfast before the day begins.

The spontaneous coffee stop after running errands.

The intensity while deciding what to order (It’s like an Exam’s Final Paper!)

The friendly argument over who gets the last piece.

The slow pace of sitting down for durian becomes part of the memory.

As a doctor, life can become busy very quickly.

Clinics, meetings and lectures have a way of filling every available space.

Days turn into weeks before you know it.

Moments like these remind me that slowing down isn’t wasted time.

Sharing a meal is one of the simplest ways to reconnect with family and friends

To catch up on life, and to create memories that quietly stay with us long after the plates have been cleared.

Perhaps that’s why I’ve always enjoyed exploring good food. It’s never really about the restaurant.

It’s about the people sitting across the table.

My Center Keeps Me Grounded

My family has always been my center.

They keep me grounded.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers who lead, provide and encourage.

My center keeps me grounded.

And yes… my center also reminds me where my money went. 😂

P.S. Which places in the video is your favorite?
