Why Does Our Clinic Use a Team-Based Approach?

Why Does Our Clinic Use a Team-Based Approach?

One of the most common questions we receive is:

“Will I get to see Dr Kent Woo?”

The answer is simple.

Yes.

But first, let me explain why we built the clinic this way.

A Realisation I Had

A few years ago, I realised something.

Patients were waiting longer and longer to see me.

Not because I wasn’t working.

But because there is only one of me.

At that point, I had two choices.

See every patient myself…

Or build a system that allows more patients to be seen without compromising quality.

I chose the second path.

Why a Team Matters

Think of a busy mamak.

The waiter takes your order.

The roti canai guy makes the roti.

The teh tarik guy does the pulling.

Nobody asks why one person doesn’t do everything.

Everyone has a role.

That’s how good teams work.

Medicine is no different.

What Happens During Your Visit

When you visit our clinic, you will first meet our nurses and one of our Allergy & Immunology physicians.

This is not simply information gathering.

It is a clinical conversation.

A chance for clarification, education, and understanding your condition in greater depth.

And often, something interesting happens.

A patient pauses and says:

“Doctor, I just remembered something.”

Or:

“Actually, this is more detailed than I thought.”

Which is exactly why this step matters.

Because in medicine, clarity rarely comes from a single question.

It comes from conversation.

By the time your case reaches me, we already have a much clearer picture of your health.

Not just symptoms — but patterns.

Will I Still See Dr Kent?

Absolutely.

I remain involved in patient care and review cases when extra specialist input is needed.

Some patients will see me during their visit.

Others may already have their concerns adequately addressed earlier in the consultation process.

Both are acceptable outcomes.

Because the goal is not who you see first…

The goal is whether your problem is properly understood.

Why Not Just See Dr Kent From the Start?

A fair question.

The answer is access.

If every patient needed to see a single doctor first, waiting times would increase and urgent cases would be delayed.

A team-based model allows patients to be seen sooner and assessed more thoroughly.

It also allows multiple clinicians to contribute to understanding the case.

The goal is not separation.

The goal is continuity of care.

What If I Prefer to See Dr Kent Personally?

We understand.

Some patients prefer a direct consultation from the outset.

For this reason, we offer a private room consultation where your visit is conducted personally by Dr Kent Woo.

The medical assessment remains the same.

What differs is the experience.

Think of it like flying.

Economy and business class arrive at the same destination.

The difference is not the pilot.

The difference is the experience.

Some patients prefer it.

Others do not.

Both are valid.

A Whole Clinic Looking After You

At the end of the day, I am only one doctor.

There are only so many hours in a day.

Only so many patients I can personally see.

Only so many places I can be at once.

But medicine should not depend on one person.

It should depend on a system that works.

That is what we have built.

Protecting What Matters

Because if medicine is going to remain human…

It cannot rely on a single person point of contact.

It depends on people who still take the time to listen properly.

To think carefully.

And to connect the details that matter.

That has always been the goal.

Not to make care less personal.

But to make good care available to more people.
